our journey
“A very powerful and
communicative group.
They are a joy both to hear
and to watch,
bringing vibrant colour
not only
through their presentation
but also through their
musical expression.”
- Shirley Brill
Five musicians from diverse cultural backgrounds meet
in the city of music and feel a spark.
that’s how vienta was born.
What started inside the practice rooms of one the
most prestigious universities for music in the world
has developted into an internationally acclaimed voice of innovation
within the the viennese chamber music scene.
With the supportive guidance of Gottfried Pokorny,
principal bassoonist of the Tonkünstler orchestra,
VIENTA was able to celebrate their debut, held in the sold out MuTh concert hall,
only one year after their forming.
Following this meaningful event, the group started to broaden their horizon
by expanding their repertoire, performing in
children’s concerts, and participating in Musethica, a program which enables
every group in society to experience a live performance.
Their motivation and efforts paid off: In April 2026, VIENTA was awarded 2nd place
at the international chamber music competition in Lyon.
For the first time in many years, an austrian wind quintet representing the viennese sound
was able to reach the final round of a renowned international competition.
Today, VIENTA performs at various festivals and well-known venues, sharing the spark,
which brought them together, with their audiences.
